Many women have been impressed with the effectiveness of fitness programs like the p90x in helping people become fit and stay fit. Although many have tried the program merely because they want to lose weight, the reduction of weight and fat deposits in the body are only considered side effects of the fitness program as its main goal is to develop and strengthen the muscles of the body as well as induce the habit of eating a well balanced and nourished diet.

As effective as p90x can be in helping people get fit, it might be a little too strenuous for a pregnant woman. While most doctors advice that it is quite safe to continue any exercise routine that a woman is used to during before pregnancy to the first two of the pregnancy trimesters, some women are not comfortable with activities that put some strain in the muscles and joints that are already over worked from carrying extra weight.

Yet, being pregnant doesn’t have to mean getting fat and getting unfit. There are still a few things mothers can do to stay fit even while pregnancy. Swimming and walking are two activities that most women find helpful. These activities are less strenuous are compared to vigorous exercises often featured in fitness programs. Other things such as proper hydration, taking vitamins and low salt and sugar intake can also help pregnant women stay fit. After giving birth, a woman can certainly go back to her p90x to help her lose those extra pounds and flab.
